Entrecard Tips for Success in the New Year

Recently there has been a lot of conversation within the entrecard blogosphere about the value of drops, and Entrecarders lack of return drops.

Each entrecard blog has a widget assigned to it, and when that widget is hit, it gives a point to the person who hits or “drops” on that widget. many of the people who sign up for entrecard want hits. some just seem to want to gain a higher popularity rating; and yet others appear to be malicious in intent - because they add Trojan devices and other unnecessary code to their pages - which when visited, infect the visitors computer.

I’ve personally had to spend an inordinate amount of time recently, “cleaning up after dropping” so to speak. the amount of IFrame Viruses and Trojans that appear on my virus list after a week; are what I would have accumulated within an entire year of surfing the internet “Pre Entrecard”. Thank God I’m a Trained Tech.

Entrecard is a great way to build visitors, but in order for it to work - everyone needs to follow a few simple rules of fair play.

  1. Empty Your Inbox Daily - if possible. the drops you received were courtesy visits by other bloggers who’d like the same courtesy returned.
  2. Approve Your Ads Daily - when a blogger is spending their hard earned credits, they’d like to plan their campaign with the credits they’ve extended to you. it’s simple, just log in daily and look at your control panel. everydrop and every ad in pending as well as approved ad’s are listed there; so you know what’s going on in Your Entre World.
  3. Don’t Be A Bandwidth Hog.  many blogs that I visit, take so long to load, I can actually drop on 10 sometimes up to 30 blogs before the widget on their page appears. that guarantees I will not be adverstising nor will I be interested in visiting that page - unless i am returning a Courtesy Drop.  The amount of time a page takes to load greatly impacts, how many visitors feel about you as a blogger. if you jam your page with crazy ads and widgets, are you working with a plan ?  or just playing with my time when I pay you a courtesy visit ?  that is the first question that enters my mind; and if it appears to me that you just loaded up your page with every widget you could find to slow it down - then I will instantly get the message and not make myself a part of the traffic pattern. no thank you - I don’t drive in rush hour if I don’t have to, so I won’t be waiting to get .1 ec from your wasting of my time. btw yes my time is that precious. I charge my clients by the hour - yes by the hour, so why not think of all my time as valuable; because it is.  Be Thoughtful in your SiteArchitecture and Layout Please. Put Your Entrecard Widget where it can be found, closer to the top, and in the first loading sidebar. simple.
  4. Don’t Put Streaming Self Starting Media on Your Page -It stops the rest of your page, and oftimes the rest of the pages we are loading in tabs from loading. Is it so difficult to realize that your streaming media demands first preference; above the User who is Visiting ? that to me is an instant page closer and I will always make time to report a site like this to the entrecops, because I think someone needs to remind you of your purposeful inconsideration. fyi there is a 25 credit bonus given eachtime you are reported, so know that you are making some of us ec richer daily.
  5. New Users - learn to visit the pages of all who want to advertise on your page FIRST; before turning down that ad, Because You Assume” what the sight may be about from the title of the blog.  how else are you to gain credibility or a following by instantly rejecting ads ?  some of us old time entrecarders support new blogs with an ad purchase; and when those ads are rejected for no reason from a site with 1/100th the ec value of yours - you laugh hilariously at the blog that rejected you, and then you make a pact to never ever buy an ad from them again. yep it’s just that easy to paint yourself into a corner on entrecard.

yes we all know there are cliques and posses’ on entrecard, and some of us secretly belong. most of us are just here for the visits and networking. so please this year ECarders, lets make this Two Thousand NICE.

Enjoy The Year Blogging
